Everything UNT (on the Square) - An Artsy Pop-up Store, a temporary shop in which students, faculty and alumni from the University of North Texas will sell their original creative work. The event is sponsored by UNT on the Square and the Mary Jo and V. Lane Rawlins Fine Arts Series.
Shoppers can find unique gifts and support the University of North Texas community at the Everything UNT (on the Square) - An Artsy Pop-up Store, a temporary shop that will be open Nov. 8 (Saturday) at UNT on the Square.
Students, employees and alumni will sell creative products, such as original art, CDs, videos and publications during the event, which coincides with UNT's Homecoming and the Denton Main Street Association's Holiday Open House Weekend.
"Since pop up stores are a current retail trend, we decided to have fun with it," said Herbert Holl, director of the Institute for the Advancement of the Arts, the organization that runs UNT on the Square. "Everything that the shop offers has a UNT connection."
Student organizations set to participate include the Parrallax Photography Club, the Metals Club and the Clay Guild. Several alumni will be participating as well. The proceeds will go back to the individual clubs.
"We tend to get enthusiastic responses from our students because this is what they do and we want to share that enthusiasm with the community," Holl said.
Sponsors for the event include the Institute for the Advancement of the Arts and the Mary Jo and V. Lane Rawlins Fine Arts Series.
